What is Freeview Play?
Freeview Play provides quick easy access to progammes you may have missed in the last 7 days, all from the electronic program guide.
Rather than having to open an app from the Smart Hub to find a programme to watch, simply scroll back in time on the EPG. Depending on the TV you are watching, open the Programme Guide and either press the left arrow or the previous button on the remote, selecting the programme you missed. Press the 'Ok' button (may differ on dependent on the product) and Freevew Play activates the relevant on demand app for and starts playback automatically*.
Using a Freeview Play enabled EPG will enable you to find programmes from BBC iPlayer, the ITV Hub, All 4, My5 and UKTV Play sitting alongside over 70 digital channels and 15 HD channels. Simply make sure your TV or recorder is connected to the internet and you’re good to go. And as ever with Freeview, there’s no monthly fee.
How do I get Freeview Play?
- Choose a Product: Not all products have Freeview Play, currently the Panasonic NP58EX700, Linsar LI32LE150 and the Linsar LI24LE170 are available in our range.
- Connect to the Internet: All on-demand TV relies on an internet connection to stream the programmes you want to watch, this means your TV will need to be connected to your broadband.
Who would benefit from Freeview Play?
- The simple answer is: Everyone that wants to watch a TV programme they have missed via catchup and that has broadband.
Key information
- An internet connection is required.
- *Freeview Play uses on-demand Apps, therefore, it may mean that a customer needs to set up an account the first time they use Freeview Play or sign into the App before they can use it. This is dependant on the on-demand App.
- Freeview Play is not supported by all HD channels. However, BBCi player has the option to select the broadcast quality (HD or SD). This means that in some cases it will be necessary to use the SD channel to find the programme you want to watch on catchup.
